CHATTERBOX POLLY - THELMA, MADRID SPAIN
CHATTERBOX POLLY
Hi Betty,
If you accept pets that are not cats (as I see you do!) I thought I shouldn't leave out our African grey, Polly, who is absolutely adorable. Everyone who meets him justs loves him as he is such a cheerful, jolly, funny and smart parrot. We have a lot of fun with him. It's incredible how he imitates everything: the phone ringing, the sound of the doorbell, laughter, my exact voice, etc. etc. Apart from that he is BI-LINGUAL!! When he hears me speaking to somebody in English he immediately switches to the few words he knows such as yeah, hi, and rambles on in English-sounding words.
Also if there is someone out there who has a remedy for his mania of plucking out his feathers I would be deeply grateful. We have had his blood analysed and he apparently is alright. We also give him a lot of toys to keep him entertained but so far, nothing doing. Now that the winter is setting in that's when we worry most about him.
Great keeping in touch with you two. Through this pet club I get to see something of your family.
Looking forward to seeing you in Goa.
Thelma

Fatima, that Spain being a Latin country you can imagine how they swear.
We at home rarely do (!) but my father-in-law (R.I.P.) often said this swear word "coño" which Polly immediately picked up and
he oftens lets it out with a lot of emphasis and the funny thing is he does so in appropriate situations. You must come and meet him."
